The Midas Crusade - update

So after just four weeks the club Midas Crusade is going nicely. Unfortunately things may slow down now as our venue is closing for a month, but I hope that it won't stop any of the guys from getting their 40K hats on and playing some games.

As it stands at the moment the forces of Chaos still hold the majority of control in the Midas sector with the Imperium giving them a good run for their money especially over Midas Prime. The Necrons are recapturing their homeworld, the Orks are confined to a single world and the Eldar are taking heavy losses wherever they try to intervene.

Part 2

After yesturdays post about the Knarloc it seems from todays rumours (pinch of salt as always) that there may well be a Knarloc in the new Tau codex. Good news for me if it is true. Yay!

Krootox?

Today has seen some more rumours for the Tau codex. One of the supposed units is the Krootox Giant. Since I plan on using Demiurg for Tau, with some Kroot mercenaries, I like the idea of using the FW Knarlac in place of the Krootox Giant model.

Space dwarves and dinosaurs sound like fun to me.

This is one of those pieces of art that I mentioned in my previous post. For those who remember, 1st edition / Rogue Trader felt like an old comic we used to have called 2000AD. It's where Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog came from originally. The universe was oppressive but had that odd fun feel to it that modern Warhammer 40K lacks.



 

1st edition artwork and stuff

For some time now I have had a hankering for the feel of the old 1st edition 40K (AKA Rogue Trader). The game had some different artwork and a very different feel back then. Part of me wishes it was still that way. Anyway, I did a search this afternoon and found some of that artwork.

 



 

 

This is one of those images that comes back to me. Are these guys space marines or simply mercenaries? Back under 1st edition, before the army lists, you could field Imperial Guard all in power armour. I miss that sort of versatility.

£2.50 for two metal models. Those where the days. I remember four figure packs for £3 or £4. Those days are long gone sadly.

 

I posted this more because I had those jetbike models. Don't remember Christmas Marines though.
