Not so bad anymore but I am so tempted to make one of my Sons of Tantalus in this pose.

Stormraven for the regular marines? I'm a happy bunny then. :-)
Hopefully the lack of eldar, tyranid and tau flyers means that they aren't that far away with codex releases.

Thursday wibbles
So my friend Fish came over this afternoon for a couple hours painting (his Imperial Guard and my marines) and we got to nattering about lots of 40K stuff. One thing I mentioned was the idea of picking a couple armies and working out a HQ and two troops for around 600pts, playing small games, and over time slowly add to each. Fish quite liked the idea and we are going to do something a long these lines but work to do really good painting jobs on them rather than the table quality we normally do. He is looking at doing a dark mechanicus army and I am finally going to get started on my squats, sorry... demiurg, that I've being meaning to do for ages. We are thinking meet up one or twice a month when he has an afternoon free.
It's a good idea I think and something I am looking forward to.
You can check out his gaming blog here.

Death from the Skies!
So February looks like a new release for 40K, and this time it is an update/add-on to the flyer rules in 6th edition. From reading various internet reports it does look like some aircraft get an update, stormtalon and night scythe for example, and other races without flyers get one. Tyranid players will probably still not be happy.
The only aspect that I've read that I am not happy with is that there may be the extra optional rules and flyers mission that appeared in Crusade of Fire only a couple of months ago. That strikes me as both a waste of time (they were terrible rules) and a snub at the people who bought that book.

Finecast Update
So, according to this report, Finecast may be gone to 2-3 years and replaced with plastic models. While I never had a problem with Finecast I would much prefer to have figures made from plastic. Much easier to work with and convert with. I'll be keeping an eye out for any more rumours about this.

Situation Report
Played my first game against Daemons under 6th edition tonight. Well, Daemons with CSM allies, to be exact. Firstly, I was surprised that my opponent actually took a land raider and a heldrake as part of his allies detachment as so far all I have seen people play is a HQ and two troops. As for the main list, he didn't play anything twinky and it was nice and fair. Though I still find that Flamers need to be toned down. Their flamer weapons do not need to be that harsh!
The game started off really well for me but turn 3 saw his Heldrake come in, smash my Stormtalon via vector strike and then consign half a squad of marines to a fiery death. That prevented my winning the game.
I was pleased with one thing though. He had played Fateweaver as his warlord, and the remaining four men from the squad I mentioned above shot him with three bolters and a plasmagun. Wounded, he took a leadership test, failed, and fled into the warp! I may not have won the game but I claim the moral victory for that. :-)
Overall, what was fielded was fair and balanced. No Bloodletters, juggernauts or twinky options. Lots of plaguebearers which held my assault terminators up.
Victory was my opponents purely because of two flamers squads and the heldrake, which did their job very well.
